About me

I have always loved getting my hands dirty, feeling the connection to the earth and playing with mud. As a child, I would often be found in the garden making mud pies. As a young girl I loved making things for people. Inspired by nature and of course Blue Peter, my family would often receive ‘handmade’ gifts ‘Made with Love’.

At secondary school I remember visiting the art room and being excited to see a potter’s wheel for the first time.  I was so disappointed when the teacher said that we were not allowed to have a go. That distant memory sprung to the forefront of my mind when I began watching ‘The Great British Throw Down’. I was mesmerised by the process and by the end of the first series I was fully inspired and itching to have a go.

My first teacher was Hanna Mi, a Norwegian ceramicist who has a studio where she teaches and sells her work in Greece. The moment I created my first piece, I was ‘hooked’. There was a connection with this new material I had not felt before. Before I left to come home I had already booked myself onto pottery classes in the UK. That was 7 years ago.

Since then I have done several courses, spent a few hundred hours practicing on a wheel and have learned so much from so many kind potters who want to share their love of making ceramics. It is a continuous learning process and I am still learning.

My studio

I now have my own small studio and kiln at home.

During the Covid lock down I could not work as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist so I turned my ceramics hobby into a small business and sold my creations on line.

I enjoy being face to face with people and meeting people who buy my work. I like to make things that people love to use or give as a gift. I have received some wonderful feedback from my customers.

It is also lots of fun setting up a stall at a craft market and
working alongside talented and creative people.

Last year I delivered a few Pop-Up Pottery classes in a local church hall. This year I am setting up a weekly ‘Clay Club’.
